Chromcor strings have a single filament steel core wound with chrome steel. They have a clear and very bright sound, warmer and great tonal volume with an easy response. Chromcor strings are wound with chrome steel and are therefore durable. Chrome steel cannot corrode and is not affected by hand sweat. Also suitable for electric or microphone amplified violas. E, A, D and G strings with chrome steel. For 4/4 size viola. Handmade in Germany.

A string is the vibrating element that originates the sound in stringed musical instruments, such as the guitar, the double bass, the harp, the piano, or members of the violin family, distant descendants of ancient instruments such as vihuelas, fidulas, rabbets and psalters.
The strings can be smooth, thus consisting of a unique material such as steel, nylon, gold or animal gut.
They can also have a silk or nylon interior and wound with steel, copper, silver or gold threads in the case of the highest notes of the violin.
Depending on the construction of the instrument where they are used, the strings will usually have a ball or loop at one end whose mission is to securely hold the string to the instrument. The strings of some instruments can be wrapped in silk to protect the string and prevent it from breaking, since they are usually supported by segments of wood.
A string vibrates in a complex harmonic pattern. Each time a string is set in motion, it resonates a specific set of frequencies according to mathematical harmonic series.
The fundamental frequency is the lowest and most heard, and is determined by density, length, string tension, humidity, pressure, and atmospheric temperature.
This is the frequency that we identify as the height of the string. Above that frequency, the harmonics are heard more "piano" or smooth the higher the pitch.
