The Shangri-La Jr Electrostatic Headphone complements the Shangri-La Jr Electrostatic Amplifier. With a nanometer-thick diaphragm and acoustically transparent mesh stators, it delivers exceptional clarity and dynamics.
When it comes to detail retrieval, no factor is more important than the diaphragm. Required to oscillate up to 20,000 times a second, most diaphragms, which are made of plastic or cardboard, can’t overcome the hurdle of their own inertia to reproduce lifelike detail. The Shangri-La Jr Headset, on the other hand, features a nanometer-thick diaphragm. This exceptional thinness allows it to reproduce unparalleled details and lifelike imaging that can’t be found on other headphones.
The Shangri-La Jr Electrostatic Amplifier is a hybrid amp, pairing a Class A solid-state output stage with a tube input stage. This combination allows it to drive high-impedance headphones with the warmth and sumptuousness of vacuum tubes.
The 6SN7 vacuum tubes are hand-matched to ensure superior sound quality. Jim Hannon of the Absolute Sound raved about them, saying “I found myself transported to the recording venue and was able to hear all kinds of subtle details typically obscured by other transducers, such as the natural decay of notes, the pedaling nuances, and the hammers hitting the strings.”
