This pedal was designed to take the concept of the 808 but make some improvements that take care of everything you didn’t like about the original circuit. There is a selector switch that allows you to go from a traditional screamer tone to a higher gain overdrive with some added low end. Built to emulate the TS-808, the Phantom Overdrive features a standard mid-gain mode with a switch for selecting a more aggressive, higher-gain setting.

MJM Electronics is widely know as a maker of vintage sounding effects, and this pedal is no different. MJM used to have another tube scream style pedal called the Blues Devil, which was great, but it looks to be discontinued.
