TIL: OTDR launch cables measure optical fiber loss and reflectivity. They act as both transmitting and receiving cables to eliminate blind spots. The cables are coiled for portability, come in various lengths, and are suitable for short, medium, and long-distance fiber network testing.
Use the Fiber Ring as a launch cable. Connect the Fiber Ring between your OTDR and the fiber link under test. This will allow you to measure the loss of the near-end connection.
Use the Fiber Ring as a receive cable. Connect the Fiber Ring to the far-end connector of your fiber link under test. This will allow you to measure the loss of the far-end connection.
Use the jump cable as a transmitting and receiving cable to measure the total insertion loss of the fiber link.
