Tokopedia Reveals Online Shopping Trends in Central Indonesia Towards Year End

Indonesia, 27 December 2021 - Online shopping continues to be people's choice to meet their needs. Thus, Tokopedia announced several interesting findings of people's online shopping behavior, especially in central Indonesia, towards the end of 2021.

External Communications Senior Lead Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya, said, "We recorded an almost 1.5x increase in transactions, especially in central Indonesia, towards the end of 2021 compared to the same period in the previous year."

This increase was driven by various initiatives that Tokopedia has launched, such as the Hyperlocal initiative and a series of derivative programs, one of which is the Kumpulan Toko Pilihan (KTP) campaign, which continues to increase public enthusiasm for online shopping.

The Hyperlocal initiative is tailored to the needs of each region and aims to bring customers closer to the nearest seller so that people can shop more efficiently and provide MSMEs with the same opportunities throughout Indonesia to grow.

Especially in central Indonesia, the Household, Health and Personal Care, Electronics and Fashion are some of the best-selling categories on Tokopedia, towards the end of 2021.

On the other hand, the number of sellers on Tokopedia has also increased. Tokopedia recorded an almost 1,5x increase in the number of sellers, especially in the central part of Indonesia, towards the end of 2021 compared to the same period in the previous year.

Sambal Raja Roa, is a business player from Balikpapan who sells various types of sambal roa and feels the benefits of selling online. "Nearly 70% of my sales came from Tokopedia, and my turnover increased by 3 times after participating in the Kumpulan Toko Pilihan (KTP) program," explained Imam Masyhuda, Owner of Sambal Raja Roa.
