Peek Into Tokopedia's Past Year Digital Goods Transaction Trends

Public enthusiasm for Tokopedia's 'Education Fee' and 'State Revenue' digital goods spread from Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Nusa Tenggara to Sulawesi

Jakarta, 23 September 2022 - Besides offering a marketplace, Indonesian technology company Tokopedia also facilitates the sale or payment of more than 40 digital goods that save consumers’ time, such as phone credit, data packages, social security programs (BPJS), electricity, water, education fees, taxes and so on.

"Tokopedia recorded a surge of transactions by more than double, specifically for the digital goods ‘Education Fee’ and ‘State Revenue’ over the past year," Tokopedia's Head of Sales and Operations Development (Digital Goods), Yosep Aditya Susanto said.

Susanto added, "These two digital goods are expected to help maintain the continuity of education and make it easier for the public to access public services as well as support the increase of state revenues."

Tokopedia's digital goods, Education Fee, connects with 6,000 educational institutions. Over the past year, Wajo (South Sulawesi), West Aceh (Aceh), Padang Pariaman (West Sumatra) and Mahakam Ulu (East Kalimantan) districts became some areas with the highest ‘Education Fee’ transactions,” Susanto continued.

“In the same period, several regions with the highest transactions for ‘State Revenue’ included Bombana Regency (Southeast Sulawesi), North Central Timor and Konawe (Southeast Sulawesi), Pulang Pisau (Central Kalimantan), to North Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara),” Susanto noted.

On the other hand, the number of users of ‘State Revenue’ almost tripled in the first semester of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. Tokopedia became the first Indonesian technology company to offer ‘State Revenue’ as a digital good, launched in August 2019 in collaboration with the Director General of Treasury of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition to ‘Education Fee’ and ‘State Revenue,’ Tokopedia's digital goods include the electronic one-stop administrative services (E-Samsat) and payment for land and building taxes (PBB). Over the past year, transactions through the ‘E-Samsat’ and ‘PBB’ digital goods increased by about 1.5 times each.

The areas of Kutai Kartanegara (East Kalimantan), Medan (North Sumatra), Trenggalek (East Java), Sampang (East Java), and Balikpapan (East Kalimantan) were some areas with the highest increase in ‘E-Samsat’ transactions over the past year, compared to the previous year.

On the other hand, during the same period, the districts of Kediri (East Java), Bojonegoro (East Java), Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Malang (East Java), and Makassar (South Sulawesi) were some areas that saw the highest increase in ‘PBB’ transactions.

"We welcome the public’s high enthusiasm for Tokopedia’s digital goods. We hope that tens of our digital goods can continue to ease Indonesians in meeting their needs,” Susanto concluded.
