The active ingredient (diclofenac) in our gels penetrates deep into the skin and provides pain relief for up to 12 hours, without a tablet.  It works differently from heat or cooling rubs, which contain ingredients that stimulate nerves in the skin to provide a sensation of heating or cooling. 
The Emulgel technology used in Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly has an added permeation enhancer, which helps more active ingredient diclofenac to penetrate deeply through the skin and reach the site of the pain, inflammation, and swelling, where you need it.
