Only the BESS, in conjunction with Edge On Up instrumentation, enables you to not only measure the sharpness of an edge but to numerically quantify that sharpness level. The BESS gives sharpeners everywhere a voice and a means of communicating sharpness values. Now you can talk, think, compare and notate sharpness levels with every edge you own or sharpen.

All PT50 Series Instruments utilize EOU's exclusive "Max Force" analytical software algorithm to capture and log crucial edge information. PT50 Series instruments use the same, quick & easy, three button operation and (2) AAA battery power (included). Engineered and certified Aluminum Test Fixtures include pre-loaded 125 measurement test media canisters and Clip Bases come with 25 disposable test media clips. Disposable test media clips do not yet have BESS Certification. All PT50 Series model instruments have been tested and certified by BESS Universal for use with BESS Certified Test Media canisters.

Apa itu BESS?
The standard used to determine the sharpness of knives is called the BESS: Brubacher Edge Sharpness Scale. This scale was developed by Mike Brubacher, owner of Edge-On-Up. He has a background in sensor and test development in various industries. In 2012 he started developing a standard that could measure the sharpness of knives and needles. The result is the BESS standard that was quickly adopted by experts and enthusiasts as one of the most user-friendly methods to determine the sharpness of a knife.
